Running a sales training company, I’ve helped my clients write thousands of emails and also receive hundreds of cold emails a week from sellers, which are mostly terrible.
Over the years, I’ve seen the same handful of mistakes:
Salespeople just talking about themselves and not their customers
Long winded emails that are over 100 words that the recipient deletes instantly
Writing “I hope you’re well” in the first line. It’s a waste of whitespace and what every other seller says
Using weird words that are generic jargon like streamline and efficiencies
Directors, VPs, managers and CEOs - you know what they have in common?... They all receive hundreds and hundreds of rubbish emails every week that have no relevance to them. The good news is that means the bar is low.
