This week we’ve seen the sensationalist headlines that “AI is going to destroy the world” and “wipe out the entire human race.”

I believe this is all marketing hype from the leaders of the big players in the space.

Why?

AI-generated code has 1.7x more bugs than human-written code. This isn’t some mad conspiracy but a fact. Have a look online.

I've personally noted this recently using lots of software. Instead of it getting better, I'm noticing tools becoming more buggy with AI.

Here’s another stat for you. 50% of companies experienced unplanned downtime caused directly by incorrect AI automation.

Everyone in the sales world has seen the same thing with "AI SDRs". They promise the world but have a 90% churn rate.

The point is don’t replace people with AI, whether they’re coders or sellers. AI is a phenomenal assistant. But it isn’t human.

It doesn't build trust with a customer. It doesn't catch the thing the spec sheet missed. It doesn't take responsibility when something breaks.

Sometimes as a leader, you need to make hard decisions and fire people. That’s the reality of business and sales.

But make that decision because someone is under-performing. Not because you want to replace them with AI.

AI at its best is an amazing assistant, at its worst it tries to recreate a human. Don’t make that mistake.
